How do I build a consumer list?

Salesgenie makes building highly targeted consumer lists easy using a wide range of data characteristics and filters. You’ll start with millions of consumer records across the U.S. and then apply filters to narrow the database into a list that matches your specific prospecting goals.



Steps to build a consumer list

  1. Start a new search
    • From the home page, click the “Consumer” slider
    • Then click “Search for Leads” to begin building your list
  2. Choose your filters
    • You’ll find a long list of filter criteria on the left sidebar, such as geography, demographics, lifestyle, housing, automobile data, and more
    • As you apply filters, your list will update in real time

 

Best Practices for List Building

Prioritize your filters:

Before you begin, carefully consider which data characteristics matter most for your campaign. Applying too many filters can narrow your results too much and limit the usefulness of your list. Since this isn’t something the system can decide for you, it’s essential to set priorities and apply filters in a thoughtful order.

  • Start with geography: Narrowing your list by location (state, county, city, ZIP code, etc.) first reduces its size in a manageable way and makes it easier to layer in additional criteria.
  • Go broad before going narrow: Apply broad filters (such as geography or income) first, then layer on more specific filters (like age, number of children, or hobbies). This helps you see the effect of each filter and refine strategically.
  • Save as you go: Salesgenie automatically saves your work as you build your list, so you don’t have to worry about losing progress. You’ll also see a reminder to save before exiting.
  • Remove filters when needed: If a filter shrinks your list too much, click on that filter and select Clear All to remove it.
