Salesgenie uses filters (also called criteria selections) to narrow its large database of businesses and consumers into highly targeted lists that match your prospecting needs. Each filter you apply reduces the number of records shown, helping you drill down to the most relevant prospects.
After clicking Search for Leads from the top of the Home page, open the Filters panel on the right-hand side to begin narrowing your results. Each filter you apply reduces your list and displays a black circle with a count as confirmation.. Salesgenie offers more than 60 filters, organized into the following categories:
Industry Selections
- Choose from Line of Business, Standard Industrial Classifications (SIC codes), North American Industry Classifications (NAICS codes), and Major Industry Groups
Pro Tip: Use Primary SIC to focus your search on a business’s primary line of business without including secondary SIC codes
Business Size
- Select by employee size, annual revenue (by company or location), office square footage, or business expenditures (15 categories, from accounting to telecommunications)
Geography
- Filter by state, metro area, city, ZIP Code, radius, carrier route, neighborhood, or street
- Search by area code or phone number (full or partial)
Pro Tip: If you apply overlapping geographic filters (e.g., state + city), Salesgenie includes the larger footprint but counts each record only once, so no duplicates appear in your list
Business Characteristics
- Target by company type (public/private, headquarters/branch, Fortune 1000, stock listings, foreign parent)
- Filter by executive details (name, title, gender, ethnicity)
- Add factors such as years in business, credit rating, contact methods (high-deliverable mail, email, or web address)
Exclusions
- Exclude specific data points from your list (e.g., include all businesses in a county but exclude a particular town)
Pro Tip: Filters don’t just help you find new prospects — they can also be used to enrich and verify your existing customer data, giving you a clearer picture of your ideal audience.
