Getting Started
How do I search using geography?

Geography is one of the most critical building blocks of a successful marketing strategy. Customers often cluster in specific neighborhoods, regions, or commercial centers. Salesgenie allows you to define and refine these areas with high precision.

Geographic filters are available in both the Business and Consumer databases. By knowing where your best customers are located and combining that with demographic, behavioral, or firmographic data, you can identify similar areas that represent high opportunities.

Pro Tip: When saving geo-targeted lists, include the primary geographic area, such as city, state, or neighborhood, in the list name. This makes it easier to organize and find later.

Geographic Search Options in Salesgenie

You can choose from more than 11 different geographic criteria, including:

  • State
  • City
  • Metro area (MSA)
  • ZIP Code or ZIP Code radius
  • Neighborhood or carrier route
  • Street address and street number
  • Area code or phone number (full or partial)

Map-Based Search

In addition to filter options, Salesgenie’s mapping tool allows you to draw or select geographic areas on a map. This is especially useful for identifying clusters of businesses or households.

Overlapping Geographies

If you use more than one geographic filter and the areas overlap (for example, selecting both Texas and Dallas), Salesgenie will include both criteria but only count each record once. This prevents duplicate records from appearing in your list.

Geographic targeting creates efficiency across all your marketing campaigns—from direct mail and digital advertising to prospecting and sales outreach.
